Here’s a complete rundown of all my upcoming public events and travels.
WOMEN OF COLOR IN COMPUTING,
AN ACM CELEBRATION
The Tech Intersections conference provides a space for the women of color most underrepresented in tech to come together and learn from each other’s successes, challenges, and experiences.
I’m thrilled to be presenting two sessions: Write Your Power and Management and Leadership: Tactics and Strategies for Climbing the Ladder.
You know research is important for de-risking your product decisions, but between building a product and keeping your early customers happy, how do you find the time? Cindy Alvarez shares scrappy techniques for continuing to learn from customers and validate your assumptions without investing a lot of time or money. In this hands-on two-hour course, you’ll learn how to use customer support and feedback channels to provoke research, arm your sales and customer success teams with research tactics, and figure out which feature requests you should build (and which you can ignore). You’ll also get a good idea of which customers you should focus on and what questions you should ask them.
Customers often can’t accurately tell us what they really want. But you can learn the tried-and-true interview tactics that reveal how prospective customers are behaving today and what drives them to choose – or not choose – your product.
I’m very pleased to be giving a Lightning Talk at the Techblazers Meetup on April 5, 2018: 5 Things that no one will tell you (but I will) – when it comes to landing your next dream job.
These meetups provide leadership development and group learning opportunities for women (and non-binary) people of color.
On the evening of April 11 in Copenhagen, the topic for the Lean Startup Night presented by SingularityU Nordic will be Customer Development. Although I wish I could be there in person, I’m excited to be giving the keynote talk via Zoom!
I’m very excited to be headed to South Africa for the first time!
I may have some additional availability while I am in Johannesburg, and I’m interested in making the most of the opportunity to learn as much as I can about technology & innovation in Africa while connecting with local companies, organizations, and entrepreneurs.
Please contact me if you may see a potential fit for:
- A site visit (esp. if you currently use or are considering Microsoft Azure or cloud developer / DevOps tools)
- A private workshop for your company / organization on Lean Customer Development, enterprise innovation, etc.
- An intro meeting with local startup groups, accelerators, entrepreneurs, etc.
- A pro-bono talk for local non-profit organizations working to further women and/or minorities in technology in South Africa and across the continent.
